How to Make Roast Beef Slider Recipe

Before you start assembling your sliders, you’ll need to prepare the ingredients.

Slice the Rolls: Take your pack of Savory Butter Hawaiian Rolls and slice them horizontally, creating a top and bottom layer. Keep them together, but separate the top of the rolls carefully.

Prepare the Beef: If your roast beef slices are large, you might want to cut them into smaller pieces that fit nicely on the rolls. Deli-style roast beef works best since it’s thin and easy to layer.

Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. This gives it time to reach the right temperature while you assemble the sliders.

Assembling the Sliders:  Start by placing the bottom half of the rolls into a 9×13 casserole dish. Spread an even layer of BBQ sauce over the bottom rolls. Layer the slices of roast beef over the BBQ sauce. Evenly spread the nacho cheese sauce over the roast beef. Place the top layer of rolls back on. Press down gently to help all the layers stick together.

Baking the Sliders: In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with dehydrated onions and parsley. Use a brush to baste the mixture generously over the top of the sliders. Put the casserole dish in the preheated oven and bake for 10-15 minutes. Once out of the oven, let the sliders cool for a minute or two before serving.

Variations to Cheesy Roast Beef Sliders

Roast beef sliders on Hawaiian rolls are already delicious as-is, but there are many ways to switch things up.

  • Cheese Options: While nacho cheese sauce is a classic choice, there are other cheeses that can bring a new flavor profile to your sliders. Swiss Cheese, mozzarella cheese, provolone cheese, muenster cheese, and cheddar cheese are great options. Even American cheese will work well.
  • Sauces and Spreads: You can add other sauces and spreads to add more flavors. Some delicious ideas are Worcestershire sauce, creamy horseradish sauce or horseradish mayo, dijon mustard, garlic aioli, spicy mustard, or ranch dressing.
  • Seasoning: Add some of your favorite seasonings to the roast beef sandwiches. Onion powder, garlic powder, bagel seasoning, brown sugar, poppy seeds, and sesame seeds.
  • Meat Substitutes: If roast beef isn’t your favorite, you can easily substitute other meats to create different flavors. I have also made these with turkey, ham, and pulled pork.
  • Add-On Toppings: Some simple add-on toppings-  Caramelized yellow onions, Pickles, Jalapeños, and Bacon

Tips and Tricks For Hawaiian Roll Sliders

When it comes to making roast beef sliders on Hawaiian rolls, a few tips and tricks can go a long way. Here’s how you can prepare, store, and reheat these delicious sliders to keep them tasting fresh and flavorful.

Making Ahead

Planning to serve roast beef sliders at a party or family gathering? Preparing them ahead of time can save you a lot of hassle. Here’s how to get it done:

  1. Assemble but Don’t Bake: Put together your sliders as per the recipe instructions but hold off on the baking. This includes layering the BBQ sauce, roast beef, cheese sauce, and the buttered top buns in your casserole dish.
  2. Cover and Refrigerate: Wrap the assembled sliders tightly in plastic wrap or aluminum foil. Place them in the refrigerator. They can stay in there for up to 24 hours before baking.
  3. Baking Time Adjustments: When you’re ready to bake them, preheat your oven as usual but add a few extra minutes to the baking time. Since the sliders will be cold, they may need around 5-10 extra minutes to heat through completely.

Storage and Reheating Hawaiian Roll Roast Beef Sliders

Got some leftover roast beef sliders? No problem! Storing and reheating them properly ensures they taste almost as good as when they were first made.

Storing Leftovers

  1. Cool Completely: Let the sliders cool to room temperature before storing. This helps prevent condensation, which can make them soggy.
  2. Wrap and Refrigerate: Wrap each slider individually in plastic wrap or aluminum foil. Place the wrapped sliders in an airtight container or a ziplock bag. Store them in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.

Reheating Leftovers

  1. Oven Method: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the sliders on a baking sheet and cover them with aluminum foil to prevent them from drying out. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until heated through.
  2. Microwave Method: If you’re in a hurry, you can use the microwave. Wrap each slider in a damp paper towel to keep it moist. Microwave on high for 20-30 seconds per slider, or until warmed through. Be cautious as the bread can become chewy if overcooked.
  3. Air Fryer Method: Preheat your air fryer to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the sliders in the basket and heat for 3-5 minutes. This method helps keep the buns crispy.

Proper storage and reheating can make your roast beef sliders taste fresh, allowing you to enjoy them later without losing their delightful flavors and textures.

FAQs for Roast Beef Sliders Recipe

Do I have to use Hawaiian rolls?

Hawaiian rolls are popular because of their sweetness and soft texture, but you can use other types of rolls. Here are some alternatives:

  • Brioche Rolls: Slightly sweet and buttery.
  • Slider Buns: Already portion-sized and perfect for sliders.
  • Whole Wheat Rolls: For a healthier twist.

What kind of roast beef should I use?

For the best flavor and texture, opt for deli-style roast beef that’s thinly sliced. Premium brands often offer higher quality and fresher taste, making your sliders even better.
