In a large skillet, heat olive oil over low-medium heat and add the sliced onions. Stir occasionally, letting the onions sauté until they become soft and slightly golden brown. Once cooked, remove the onions from the skillet and set aside.

Next, in a large mixing bowl, combine lean ground beef, onion powder, garlic powder, black pepper, salt, egg, and panko breadcrumbs. Mix the ingredients together with your hands until well combined. Shape the mixture into hamburger patties.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ pounds Ground Beef
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • Salt & Black Pepper to taste
  • ½ cup Panko Bread Crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1 large Yellow Onion sliced
  • 2 tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 4 tablespoon Butter
  • 1/3 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 cups Beef Broth
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 cup shredded Provolone Cheese

Instructions

  • In a large skillet over low-medium heat, add the olive oil and sliced onions. Stirring them occasionally allow them to sauté until they are slightly golden brown and soft. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl add the ground beef, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, egg, and panko bread crumbs. Using your hands mix together until all the ingredients are well combined. Once combined, form the meat into patties.
  • Place the patties in the skillet over medium-high heat and allow them to cook for about 4 minutes on each side. Once cooked to your preference, remove the patties from the skillet and drain off the grease.
  • Over low heat add the butter to the skillet, once melted add in the flour and whisk together until it forms a bubbly liquid like paste. Stirring the roux constantly, allow it to cook for 2-3 minutes then add in the beef broth and whisk together until no clumps are present.
  • Add in the onions and patties. Top the patties with cheese and cover while simmering on low as the gravy thickens and cheese melts. Serve & enjoy!
