How To Make Bacon-Wrapped Green Bean Bundles

Preheat your oven to 400°F. Bring a pot of salted water to a boil and toss in the fresh green beans, letting them cook for about 5-6 minutes. Then, quickly move them to a bowl of ice water to cool down—the cold water stops the cooking and keeps their bright green color intact.

In a small bowl, combine the melted butter, brown sugar, soy sauce, and Dan-O’s Cheesoning. Stir it all together until it turns into a thick paste, then set it aside.

Wrap about 5-7 green beans in each half slice of bacon and place them in a skillet, baking dish, or on a baking sheet. Sprinkle a bit more Dan-O’s on top, drizzle the brown sugar sauce over each bundle, and bake at 400 degrees for 30-35 minutes until the bacon is nice and crispy. Serve and enjoy!

Tip and Tricks for The BEST Green Bean Bundles

  • Fresh Green Beans: Use fresh, crisp French green beans for the best flavor, texture and presentation. I do not recommend using canned green beans because the are not long enough to be wrapped in bacon and don’t give a pretty presentation like fresh green beans.
  • Check The Bacon: All ovens cook differently, so I recommend checking the bundles around the 25-minute mark to ensure the bacon is crisping without burning.
  • Blanch For Color: Blanching the green beans in cold water keeps them bright green, and also gives them a nice crunch. So, be sure not the skip the ice bath after boiling.
  • Choose The Right Bacon: I recommend using regular-cut bacon for this dish. If you opt for thick-cut bacon, you may have to extend the cooking time.

How To Store Leftovers

Bacon-Wrapped Green Beans are definitely best when fresh, but if you’ve got some leftovers, just pop the bundles in an airtight container and stick them in the fridge. Make sure to eat the leftovers within 3-4 days.

FAQ

  • Can I use canned green beans? No. I really recommend using fresh green beans. Canned green beans are usually too short to wrap properly in bacon, plus they just don’t taste as good.
  • Can I make these Green Bean Bundles ahead of time? Absolutely! You can prepare the bundles ahead of time, store them in the fridge for up to 2 days, and then bake them just before serving.
  • Can I use turkey bacon instead? Yes, turkey bacon will work! Just keep in mind that it might not get as crispy as regular bacon.
