I don’t know about y’all, but I crave lasagna on a weekly basis. I love the flavor and how filling the dish is, but my favorite part is the cheese! So, the other day I was brainstorming on new recipes to create for my social media accounts and the deliciousness of cheese ravioli crossed my mind. I admittedly was planning to make a traditional lasagna dish, but I decided to substitute the lasagna sheets for cheese filled ravioli and boy, was I shocked at the result! This Cheesy Ravioli Lasagna might just be my new favorite “lazy lasagna” style dish!
To make this dish you will need to start by preheating the oven to 350 degrees. Next, bring a large pot of water to boil, and add the frozen ravioli. Make sure to cook the ravioli per the package instructions and add a drop of olive oil to the pot to prevent it from sticking. Once finished cooking strain the pasta and set it aside.
Then, in a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the Italian sausage and ground beef. Cook until the meat is fully browned and there is no sign of visible pink. Drain the grease and place the meat back in the skillet. Next, add pasta sauce to the skillet and season with Italian seasoning, onion powder, and garlic powder. Add cottage cheese or ricotta cheese and stir to combine.
Constructing The Layers
In a 7×11 deep casserole dish, start by placing a layer of meat sauce on the bottom of the dish. Next, add a single layer of ravioli, then a layer of meat sauce and finish by sprinkling a layer of mozzarella and parmesan cheese on top. Repeat that step in that order to form three layers. Top the last layer with meat sauce and a generous amount of mozzarella and parmesan cheese.
Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes until it is bubbly, and the cheese is melted. Let the dish rest for 15 minutes and enjoy this Cheesy Ravioli Lasagna!
