Tip and Tricks for The BEST Hamburger Casserole

  • Freshly Shredded Cheese- Avoid pre-shredded cheese, as it anti-caking agents that prevent it from melting smoothly. Freshly shredded cheese also helps to improve the flavor.
  • Add Vegetables- Add sautéed green bell pepper, mushrooms, or even diced tomatoes for added flavor, texture, and nutrients.
  • Use Different Dough- If you are not a fan of Cheddar Bay biscuit topping, feel free to use Pillsbury biscuits, frozen biscuits, buttermilk biscuits or even homemade biscuit dough.
  • Try Different Cheeses- The original recipe calls for cheddar cheese, but mozzarella cheese, or any other kind you have stored in the fridge will work for this biscuit casserole recipe.
  • Add Some Spice- Add a few red pepper flakes or a sprinkle of chili powder to give the ground beef mixture a little bit of heat.

How To Store Leftovers

  • Let It Cool- Let the casserole to cool to room temperature before storing. This will help prevent condensation, which can make the biscuits soggy.
  • Refrigerate- Transfer the leftovers to an airtight container or cover the casserole dish tightly with aluminum foil or plastic wrap. You can store it in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days.
  • Reheating- For best results reheat in the oven at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes or until warmed through. You may also reheat smaller portions in the microwave to save time.
