These Meat Lovers Calzones are another family favorite that I like to make when we are wanting something different for supper. They are easy to make and super delicious. They feature ground beef, Italian sausage, bacon, pepperoni, cheese, and pizza sauce stuffed into a crispy pizza crust. However, these are highly customizable which makes them perfect for everyone.
Ingredients
- 2 13.8 ounce tubes of pizza crust
- 20 slices of pepperoni
- 1/2 cup bacon, cooked and chopped
- 2 cups pizza blend cheese
- 1 cup pizza sauce or marinara
- ½ pound ground beef
- ½ pound ground Italian sausage
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt & Pepper to taste
- 4 tablespoon butter, melted
- Parsley (optional)
How To Make Meat Lovers Calzones
Start by preheating the oven to 425 degrees. Then, in a large skillet over medium-high heat add the ground beef and ground Italian sausage. You will need to cook meat until no pink is visible. Once finished cooking drain the excess grease and set aside.
Next, on a greased baking sheet, roll out both tubes of pizza crust and cut each in half. Fold the corners of each piece inwards. Then, add ¼ cup of sauce on one half of each piece of dough. Make sure to leave ½-1 inch border between the edge and the toppings. Then add ¼ the amount of Italian sausage, ground beef, and bacon on top of the sauce. Next, top each with 5 slices of pepperoni and ¼ the amount of cheese.
Then, fold the dough over on top of the toppings and press the edges together. Form each calzone into a half-circle shape and then take a fork and crimp the edges. Make sure to poke a few holes in the top of each calzone to allow heat to escape while baking. Finish by basting the top with butter. To add an aesthetic appeal, sprinkle some parsley on top if desired.
Bake the calzones at 425 degrees for 15-20 minutes or until the top is lightly golden brown and crispy. Serve and enjoy these Meat Lovers Calzones!
