Tip and Tricks for The Best Steak Bites

  • Use a Cast Iron Skillet: For the best sear and even cooking, always use a cast iron skillet. It holds heat well and gives the steak bites that perfect crispy crust.
  • Bring Steak to Room Temperature: Before cooking, allow the steak to come to room temperature for about 10-15 minutes. This helps the steak cook evenly and ensures a tender result.
  • Cook on Medium-High Heat: Searing the steak bites on medium-high heat locks in the juices and creates a flavorful crust. Don’t overcrowd the skillet, or the steak may not cook properly.
  • Don’t Overcook: For a perfect medium-rare steak, cook for around 2-3 minutes on each side. Adjust based on your preferred doneness.
  • Broil to Perfection: Set your oven to broil on high for 6-7 minutes to melt the cheese and get the topping crispy without overcooking the steak.

How To Store Leftovers

  • Allow Steak to Cool: Before storing, let the steak bites cool to room temperature to prevent condensation inside the container.
  • Use an Airtight Container: Place the leftover steak bites in an airtight container to preserve their freshness and avoid any moisture buildup that could affect the texture.
  • Refrigerate Promptly: Store the steak bites in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. The parmesan crust may soften over time, but they’ll still be delicious!

FAQ

  • What type of steak is best for Parmesan Crusted Steak Bites? The best steaks for this would be cuts like sirloin steak, flat iron steaks, or ribeye steak. These cuts hold up well during cooking and create juicy, flavorful bites. You can also use thicker steaks like bone-in ribeye or filet mignon if you prefer a more decadent option.
  • How can I ensure my steak bites have the perfect sear? To achieve a perfect sear, make sure your cast iron skillet is hot and well-preheated over medium-high heat. Pat the steak bites dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture and allow it to cook evenly, then cook each side for 2-3 minutes.
  • Can I use a different seasoning besides Montreal steak seasoning? Absolutely! You can customize the flavor by using garlic powder, black pepper, or even adding fresh herbs like rosemary and thyme to create a unique flavor profile.
  • How do I know when my steak bites are cooked to my preferred level? Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of your steak. For medium-rare, aim for 130-135 degrees. If you prefer a different doneness, adjust the cooking time accordingly.
