How To Make Pecan Pie Cobbler

Tip and Tricks For The Best Pecan Cobbler
- Use Quality Pecans- Fresh, high-quality pecans are key to a flavorful cobbler. Avoid using old or stale nuts, because they can taste bitter.
- Layer Ingredients Properly- Be sure to layer the ingredients per the recipe card below. If the second pie crust is not close enough to the top of the cobbler, it may not finish baking properly.
- Watch the Baking Time- Pecan Pie Cobbler can go from perfect to overbaked quickly. Start checking it toward the end of the suggested baking time to ensure the top is golden brown and set, but the center is still gooey.
- Don’t Skip the Ice Cream- While optional, serving Pecan Pie Cobbler with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream is a great way to take one the best desserts to the next level.
- Let It Rest- After you finish baking, let the cobbler sit for about 10–15 minutes before serving. This allows the gooey pecan pie filling to set slightly, making it easier to serve without being too runny.
How To Store Leftover Pecan Pie Cobbler
- Cover with Plastic Wrap or Foil- If you’re storing the cobbler in a casserole dish, cover it tightly with plastic wrap or aluminum foil. If you’re transferring it to a different container, place it in an airtight container for best results.
- Refrigerate- Because the cobbler does contain eggs, be sure to store the cobbler in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 days.
- Freeze for Longer Storage- If you want to keep it for a longer period, you can freeze the cobbler. Wrap it tightly in plastic wrap, then in aluminum foil, or place it in a freezer-safe container. It can stay frozen for up to 2–3 months.
- Thawing- When you’re ready to enjoy the frozen cobbler, transfer it to the refrigerator to thaw overnight. If you’re in a hurry, you can thaw it at room temperature for a few hours.
- Reheating- To reheat, warm individual portions in the microwave for about 30 seconds to 1 minute, or heat the whole dish in the oven at 350 degrees until warmed to desire.
FAQ
- What can I serve with Pecan Pie Cobbler? This cobbler is delicious on its own, but it’s even better served warm with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream. It really helps to give the perfect balance to this rich dessert.
- How do I know when the cobbler is done? The cobbler is done when the top is golden brown, and the filling is bubbly. A toothpick inserted into the center should come out clean or with a few moist crumbs but it should not have a wet batter.
- Can I use dark corn syrup instead of light corn syrup? Yes, you can use either. Personally I have always used light corn syrup so that is why I recommend it, but I have heard dark corn syrup can give the gooey filling a deeper flavor.
- How does pecan pie cobbler differ from traditional pecan pie? The key difference from an original recipe is that the cobbler has a lighter texture and is served in scoops directly from the baking dish, while pecan pie is sliced and served on a plate.
- Can I use a homemade crust instead of store bought? Yes! If you have a special homemade crust recipe, feel free to give it a go!

I dont use corn syrup. Do ypu think it will be good with half honey half Maple syrup?
I have not tried this recipe using honey and maple syrup. The taste will not be the same as the original recipe but that’s not saying it won’t be good. Let me know how it turns out!
Get Blackburns Butter Pecan syrup and prepare for deliciousness.
Can this be made ahead and frozen for the holiday?
Yes! Be sure to allow it to thaw in the fridge the day before you’re planning to serve so it won’t take as long to heat up.
Is this supposed to be runny? I may have not cooked mine long enough
Possibly. Cooking it in a shallow baking dish will help it cook faster and firm up quicker too.
Can I prep this the night before and just bake it the next day?
For best results I would recommend making/baking it all at once. Once the cobbler cools, you can cover it and store it in the fridge then reheat it the next day before serving.
This is a beautiful dish.
You mentioned this was a double batch. We can cut this in half correct?
yes you can cut the amount in half

I made this for my thanksgiving week culinary assignment, absolutely love the recipe. I tweaked it a bit by having my bottom crust as Krispy Kreme donuts and adding a caramel drizzle on top! Thanks so much for the inspiration.
