Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes

Adjust Servings5 people

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
  • ½ Yellow Onion diced
  • 2 pounds Ground Beef
  • 1 teaspoon Seasoned Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 2 tablespoon All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 ½ cup Whole Milk
  • 2 cups Mild Cheddar Cheese shredded
  • Black Pepper to taste
  • 5 Hamburger Buns
  • Mayonnaise

Instructions

  • In a large skillet over medium high heat add the olive oil and onions to the skillet and allow them to cook for 2-3 minutes, then add in the ground beef and cook until no pink is visible. If any grease is present, drain it off and season the meat with seasoned salt, onion powder, garlic powder and Worcestershire sauce. Set the meat to the side.
  • In the same skillet reduce heat to low and add in the butter. Once its melted sprinkle in the flour and stir together to form a roux. While constantly stirring allow the roux to cook for 2-3 minutes then add in the whole milk and whisk together until the roux has dissolved. Add in the shredded cheese and stir together until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce has thickened. (You can remove some for dipping at this point if you would like) Pour in the ground beef and stir to combine.
  • In a separate skillet over medium heat, spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on the inside of each bun and place in the skillet to toast. Once lightly golden brown, remove from the skillet and add a scoop of ground beef mixture. Serve & enjoy!
