Why You’ll Love These Delicious Cinnamon Rolls
- This easy recipe will fool everyone into thinking that you baked these golden brown beauties from scratch. (don’t worry – your secret’s safe with me!) This canned cinnamon roll hack proves that you can have the best of both worlds when it comes to flavor and ease. Trust me – it’s a viral recipe for a reason!
Ingredients
- Can of Cinnamon rolls – You can use your favorite brand. I like to use Pillsbury cinnamon rolls for this delicious treat.
- Heavy whipping cream – This keeps the dough nice and soft in the baking pan.
- Melted butter – Adds flavor and keeps the rolls moist.
- Ground cinnamon – The perfect topping.
Icing Ingredients
- Softened butter – Adds flavor. I use unsalted butter for this.
- Cream cheese – Make sure that it is softened to room temperature.
- Heavy whipping cream – Adds texture.
- Powdered sugar – Adds flavor and sweetness.
- Vanilla extract – Adds the perfect hint of vanilla.
How to Make the Best Cinnamon Roll Hack Recipe
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Place cinnamon rolls into a 7 x 13 baking dish and add 1/3 cup heavy whipping cream. In a small bowl melt 4 tablespoons butter and add 1/3 cup brown sugar and 1⁄4 teaspoon ground cinnamon. Mix until well combined and pour mixture in equal parts on top of the cinnamon rolls.
Bake uncovered at 375 degrees and bake for 25-30 minutes. In a separate bowl add cream cheese, butter, heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Use a hand mixer to combine until it has a whipped consistency.
Remove the cinnamon rolls from the oven when finished cooking and top with icing. Serve and enjoy!
Top Tip
- If you want the icing to be sweeter and thicker, add more powdered sugar. You can also thin it out by adding less.
Variations
- You can make this same recipe using any brand of flavor of cinnamon rolls. It’s an easy hack that adds a lot more flavor to each bite!
Storage
- Store leftover cinnamon rolls in an airtight container. I keep mine in the fridge. They might get a bit hard in the fridge, so wrap them in a napkin and reheat for 10-15 seconds. This should soften them back up so they taste just like they came from the oven.
Why is there liquid in the bottom of my casserole dish?
- Even if the cinnamon rolls are finished baking, a small amount of liquid may remain in the bottom of the casserole dish. This will not affect the taste, so if desired, just drain it from the baking dish.
How do I know when the cinnamon rolls are done baking?
- The best way to know if the cinnamon rolls are done baking is to look at the tops. They should be golden brown. You can also insert a clean toothpick into the center of the rolls. If the toothpick comes out clean, the rolls are done baking and ready for the next step, as listed on the recipe card.
Can I change the topping?
- Sure! You don’t have to make your own icing if you don’t want to—I prefer to because I LOVE this icing recipe—but you can dust the cinnamon rolls with powdered sugar, add a pre-made frosting, or even drizzle melted chocolate right on top.
Can I freeze baked cinnamon rolls?
- Absolutely! Just let them cool to room temperature and store them in a freezer-safe bag or container. I like to freeze mine in serving sizes so I can just unthaw what I’m going to reheat and eat.
- You can thaw them by moving them to the fridge or popping them in the microwave for a few seconds. Be careful – the middle of the cinnamon rolls will be hot once reheated!
