skillet of meat lovers pizza tortellini

This Meat Lovers Pizza Tortellini is the perfect family-friendly dinner! This recipe combines tender tortellini pasta with the delicious flavors of a meat lovers style pizza and honestly, how could it get any better than that? I can attest to the fact that this dish is awesome because every time I make it, everyone goes back for seconds!

To make this dish start by bringing a large pot of water to boil and adding the tortellini. Make sure that you cook the tortellini per the package instructions to ensure it has the perfect amount of bite. Once you are finished cooking it, strain the water from the pasta and set aside.

Now, in a large skillet over medium-high heat, add olive oil and the diced onions. Sauté the onions until they start to become soft (3-5 minutes). Add the ground beef and Italian sausage to the skillet and cook until it is brown, and there is no visible pink within the meat. Add minced garlic to the meat and stir to combine, cooking it for 1 additional minute or until it becomes fragrant. Then season the meat with Italian seasoning and a pinch of salt. Drain the grease from the meat and place the meat back into the skillet. Add the chopped bacon to the skillet as well.

Next, add the pizza sauce and tortellini on top of the meat and stir to combine. You will need to put the skillet over low heat and bring it to a simmer. Finally, top with mozzarella cheese and pepperoni. Cover the skillet with a lid and turn off the heat, allowing the steam to melt the cheese. Serve this Meat Lovers Pizza Tortellini with a simple side salad and garlic bread for the perfect meal that will please everyone!

We tried this recipe. Perhaps I was using too large of a pan for this, but, the 24oz jar of Pizza sauce wasn’t enough. It literally soaked into the Tortellini. When I make this again, I’m going to get two jars of Pizza Sauce instead. That or I may just use 32oz jar of Spaghetti Sauce. We’ll see.
Other than it being a bit dry it was very tasty. I could not stop eating it…

Is the bacon cooked first before adding?

    Delicious!
    I tried it at a friend’s recommendation.
I added 1/2 pound more ground chuck and Italian sausage each.
Added a small can of sliced black olives, drained, and a 24 oz. can of our favorite marinara sauce.
    Definitely a keeper!

Can I put this in a 9×13 dish and warm in oven later in the day?

If you plan to make ahead I would recommend using twice the amount if sauce because the pasta will soak it up the longer it sits.

%100 delicious! Only thing different I did was use a 20oz bag of tortellini because I couldn’t find a 12oz bag, 4oz more of pizza sauce because I could only get 12oz cans and a extra half pound of sausage to compensate for everything else…… but it was delicious and it’s a few days of eating for me and the girlfriend….thanks for the recipe!

So Tasty! Made as written and was wonderful. Next time I want to add some black olives. Make enough for an army so I’m also going to try freezing some, I’ll let you know how it works out.

Can I substitute enchilada sauce for half the pizza sauce?

Not sure how that would pair taste wise. You would be better to use marinara sauce or your favorite pasta sauce.

A new family favorite! This is a great recipe. Very versatile to add, and delete ingredients. This dish is not healthy the way I cook, so I don’t use any bacon. There is such a depth of flavors, bacon seems like overkill.
I started making this in a 14in. skillet, and had to sit and turn it on the small flame, to cook it through. It took 35 minutes to get the whole batch hot and bubbly.
Then, I tried it out in my 8 qt. Crock pot. Works perfect!
Now I can make massive amounts.
My family and friends pop over for helpings, so, to have leftovers, I had to go big.
That’s food…. Makes people smile, and feel loved. 🦋
My son found this recipe, and has a birthday coming up. This is his meal request!
    THANK YOU!
