Sticky Bun Casserole

April 11, 2024

This Sticky Bun Casserole reminds me of Christmas morning and although we are still 8 months from that, I couldn’t resist sharing this recipe with y’all. This is so simple to make, and it requires very minimal ingredients which makes it perfect for everyone

Ingredients

  • 2 cans refrigerated cinnamon rolls
  •
  • ½ cup butter, melted
  •
  • ½ cup heavy whipping cream
  •
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  •
  • ¾ cup chopped pecans
  •
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon

How To Make Sticky Bun Casserole

Start by preheating the oven to 350 degrees. Then cut each cinnamon roll into quarters and place them into a 9×13 baking dish.

Then pour ½ cup of heavy whipping cream evenly on top of the cinnamon roll pieces. This will ensure the casserole is soft and decadent.

Next in a small mixing bowl melt ½ cup (1 stick) of butter and ¾ cup of brown sugar, ¾ cup of chopped pecans and ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon. Give this a stir to combine and then pour the mixture evenly on top of the cinnamon roll pieces.

Bake the casserole uncovered for 20-30 minutes at 350 degrees until the cinnamon rolls are fully cooked and all the heavy whipping cream is absorbed. Let the dish rest for 10 minutes and serve while warm. Enjoy!

FAQ

  • What can I substitute for heavy cream?

Half and half may be used as a substitute for the heavy cream.

  • How does this differ from regular cinnamon rolls?

Sticky buns typically have more of a caramelized nutty taste while cinnamon rolls have more of a sugar and spice flavor.

  • What if I cover the dish while baking?

Baking this recipe covered may result in longer cooking times and the heavy whipping cream not fully absorbing into the cinnamon rolls.
