  • Ground beef
  • Yellow onion
  • Onion powder
  • Garlic powder
  • Black pepper
  • Cream of mushroom soup
  • Cheddar cheese soup

How To Make Cheesy Tater Tot Casserole

Start by preheating the oven to 350 degrees. Then pour the frozen tater tots into 9×13 casserole dish and bake them at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Cooking the tater tots twice is vital if you want crispy tater tots instead of soggy.

White the tots are cooking, add ground beef and diced onions to a large skillet and cook it over medium heat until no pink is visible within the meat. Once fully cooked drain off the excess grease and season the meat with garlic powder, onion powder and black pepper.

Next remove the tater tots from the casserole dish and pour in the ground beef mixture. Then add the tater tots to the top of the casserole to form a single layer. Sprinkle cheddar cheese on top and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until top is golden brown. Bake time may vary a little but the tater tots should be golden brown and super crispy!

FAQ

What can I substitute for the can of cream of mushroom soup?

You may use cream of chicken soup as a substitute.

How do I store leftover tater tot casserole and how long will it last?

– You should store any leftover tater tot casserole in an airtight container and eat it within 3-4 days. If you do not have an airtight container then you could also use aluminum foil or plastic wrap to cover the dish. However, it will not last as long using this method and should be consumed within a day or two.

  1. What other things could I add to this casserole?

– To make it a more hearty casserole you could add some canned green beans and diced bell pepper. The flavors will pair nicely with the original ingredients. If you prefer a more creamy texture then you could also add sour cream.
